This award has been established in memory of Dr. Brad Ardell who passed away suddenly September 26, 2008 when he was a third year Orthopedic Surgery Resident. Dr. Ardell is described by friends, family and colleagues as having a true prairie spirit: hardworking, dependable, selfless, warm and considerate to all he knew. He exemplified compassion, empathy, and care to all alike, having been raised with strong moral values rooted in honesty and integrity. He treated everyday as a challenge and an opportunity for accomplishment and achievement and was an innovative and creative thinker.
The award is given out on an annual basis for as long as the funds allow for an annual award of $1000. The award will be based on the candidate’s leadership and/or excellence in areas such as team building, empathy, creativity and dependability. Academic performance shall not serve as a criteria.
The award is open to all residents enrolled in the postgraduate medical training program at the University of Saskatchewan. Eligible candidates can be nominated by undergraduate medical students, residents, faculty or staff of the College of Medicine.
Deadline for applications is Tuesday, May 31st, 2011.
